Associate Trey Gifford Wins First First-Chair Jury Trial

Crain Caton & James proudly congratulates attorney Trey Gifford o

Gifford on a massive trial win—in his first trial as a first-chair attorney. The proceedings took place in Fort Bend County, where Trey was proudly raised and went to public school.

In a hotly contested will contest, the jury unanimously found in favor of each of Crain Caton’s claims, denying the purported will on every alleged ground. The jury found that the alleged will lacked due execution, the decedent lacked capacity to sign the alleged will, and the decedent was unduly influenced into signing the purported instrument.

The proceedings also secured:

  • Recovery of our clients’ good-faith attorneys’ fees from the estate,
  • An inability for the opposing party to recover fees from the estate, and
  • A determination that the opposing party is unsuitable to serve as representative of the estate.

Trey’s leadership at trial was exceptional, and he was supported by the excellent team at Crain, Caton, and James, including:

Congratulations, Trey, on this milestone and well-earned result on behalf of our clients!
