Alexander (“Alex”) W. Cohn is a shareholder who works with the firm’s Commercial Litigation, Real Estate, Bankruptcy, Banking & Financial Services, Employment, and other practice groups. Alex has extensive background in handling and resolving complex litigation matters in a broad range of disputes and proudly represents individuals and businesses in doing so.

Alex is adept at securing early victories in both prosecutorial and defense capacities and assists his clients through all stages of litigation, from the inception of a dispute or issue, through trial and post-judgment collection strategies and remedies. Alex’s considerable experience, dedication to his clients, hard work, and thorough and tactical approaches all make him a strong ally and representative in and out of court.

Before joining the firm, Alex served as an Assistant District Attorney for more than five years with the Harris County District Attorney’s Office. Throughout his career, Alex has gained significant, invaluable courtroom experience. He has tried dozens of cases before juries and judges, thousands of adversarial hearings, and is well-versed in contested motion practice.

Alex graduated cum laude from South Texas College of Law and was named to the Dean’s Honor List four times. He is honored to be a third-generation Houston lawyer, following in the footsteps of his grandfather and father, Melvin S. Cohn, and H. Miles Cohn. In his spare time, Alex is an avid reader, and also enjoys watching his toddler explore the world, playing tennis, skiing, supporting the Hoosiers and Houston’s local sports teams.
