Crain Caton & James Congratulates Brant Kotch on Selection to Houston Marathon Committee 2026 Hall of Fame

HOUSTON, TX (May 23, 2025) — Crain Caton & James, P.C. proudly congratulates Brant Kotch, Senior Counsel at the firm, on his selection to the 2026 Houston Marathon Committee Hall of Fame. Brant’s induction, announced by the Houston Marathon Committee (HMC), recognizes more than 30 years of visionary leadership and transformative impact on one of the nation’s premier distance running events.

Brant’s remarkable journey with the Houston Marathon began as a volunteer in 1992. His deep commitment led to his appointment to the HMC Board in 1996, followed by key leadership roles as Course Director (1997), Board President (2002–2024), and Race Director (2002–2020). Over the course of his tenure, Brant was instrumental in evolving the event from a local race into an internationally recognized showcase of athletic excellence and community spirit.

“Brant has dedicated decades of thoughtful leadership, grit, and heart to the Houston Marathon,” said Vance C. Christopher, Shareholder and President of Crain Caton & James. “We are thrilled to see him honored for his outstanding contributions—not just as a race director, but as a builder of legacy and a tireless advocate for this city. His induction into the Hall of Fame is a proud moment for all of us at the firm.”

Under Brant’s leadership, the Houston Marathon achieved global stature, hosting 16 U.S. Half Marathon Championships and the historic 2012 U.S. Olympic Trials Marathon, the first to feature men’s and women’s races concurrently. He also spearheaded initiatives that tripled race weekend participation and elevated the event to World Athletics Gold Label status.

Beyond competitive milestones, Brant helped shape the Marathon’s broader civic role. He oversaw the launch and expansion of the Run for a Reason Charity Program, which has raised nearly $40 million for local nonprofits, and was a founding force behind the Houston Marathon Foundation.

“Brant’s legacy is one of service, vision, and teamwork,” said Christopher. “He represents the best of Houston, and we are honored to celebrate this well-deserved recognition with him.”

Brant will be formally inducted into the Hall of Fame on Thursday, November 20, 2025, at The Grove in Houston.
