Crain Caton & James is pleased to recognize attorney Mindy McGehee Riseden, who was admitted to the Bar of the Supreme Court of the United States during a group admission ceremony on November 12 in Washington, D.C. Mindy was part of a small group of SMU Dedman School of Law alumni—approximately a dozen—invited by Dean Jason Nance to participate in this distinguished opportunity, extended in recognition of their service to the law school. After completing the application process and meeting the Court’s requirements, she joined fellow alumni for what she describes as “an unforgettable and humbling experience.”
Crain Caton & James is pleased to recognize attorney Mindy McGehee Riseden, who was admitted to the Bar of the Supreme Court of the United States during a group admission ceremony on November 12 in Washington, D.C. Mindy was one of only twelve SMU Dedman School of Law alumni selected by Dean Jason Nance for this distinguished opportunity, extended in recognition of her service to the law school. After completing the application process and meeting the Court’s requirements, she joined fellow alumni for what she describes as “an unforgettable and humbling experience.”
During the ceremony, the SMU group was seated near the front of the courtroom as Dean Nance moved for their admission. As each name, including Mindy’s, was read, the applicants stood to be recognized. Chief Justice John G. Roberts, Jr. granted the motion, and the group was sworn into the Bar of the Supreme Court of the United States.
Reflecting on the moment, Mindy shared: “It was an incredible honor to stand in that courtroom and be just feet away from the Justices, but I view it less as an achievement and more as a once-in-a-lifetime experience.” We congratulate Mindy on this meaningful professional milestone and are proud to celebrate it with her.
