EPA has announced that Dr. Earthea Nance will be the new Regional Administrator for Region 6, which covers Arkansas, Louisiana, Oklahoma, New Mexico, and Texas.
Dr. Nance holds civil engineering degrees from the University of California-Davis and a Ph.D. in environmental engineering from Stanford University. She has been a registered professional engineer for 25 years and a certified floodplain manager for 12 years.
Her past public service includes director of disaster mitigation and planning for the City of New Orleans after Katrina. She is currently an associate professor at Texas Southern University in Houston, Texas and has also served on the faculty of the University of New Orleans, the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, and Virginia Tech.
