Rob Wisner, shareholder in our Banking and Financial Practice, is also the Chairman of the Board of Cherish Our Children Inc. (COCI), a 501(c)(3) nonprofit that focuses on working with children who have experienced the trauma of having a parent incarcerated. More than 125,000 children in Houston have an incarcerated parent.
While COVID-19 has drastically affected all students academically, at-risk students who were already in danger of falling through the cracks before COVID-19 were greatly impacted. For many, school had been one of the few stable forces in their lives, but when classes went virtual in March, much of that connection was lost.
